The Hughston Award is given annually for the most outstanding paper appearing in the American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM) prior to the award. Jack C. Hughston, the founder of AJSM, is one of the pioneers in sports medicine. Early on he recognized the need for immediate diagnosis and surgical correction of ligamentous injuries about the knee in order to achieve optimum results.
