Research interests: Regulation of food preference, Cell biology and signaling, Drosophila.

Our research interest is to investigate how diet and food intake affect food choice and metabolism. It is easy to feel that choices per se are made by the brain. Our research has revealed signals that change the taste neurons sensitivity, which change the information the brain gets and food preference. We show that thresholding at the taste neuron instead of higher up in the brain reduces information flow and allows the body to determine the choice. We are right now particularly interested in the signals from the gut and the microbiota, but also other organs signals.
