Konferenser och symposier Seminarium i Bryssel: How can university cooperation contribute to preparedness for future global crises?
Välkommen till ett seminarium i Bryssel om hållbar utveckling och krishantering. Mer information om seminariet följer här på engelska.
The importance of knowledge in crisis management is receiving increased attention. It is time to learn from the COVID-19 pandemic and look ahead. Climate change is an ever-present health crisis, and constructive university collaboration is key. During its presidency of the Council of the EU, Sweden will put the Fit for 55-package into action and speed up the contribution towards halting climate change. Additionally, the EU’s role in global health will be further developed and strengthened with its new EU Global Health Strategy, which is designed to guide EU action to ensure better preparedness and response to health threats and crises.
This is the background for the seminar, where initiatives from the University Alliance Stockholm Trio - Karolinska Institutet, KTH and Stockholm University - are contributing to Swedish and European crises preparedness and response will be highlighted by representatives from the three universities:
- The Centre for Health Crises is an interdisciplinary centre that aims to, by way of research, education, and expert advice, contribute to improved preparedness and ability to handle future health crises, in particular by building the next generation of health crises experts.
- KTH Climate Action Centre is a multi-disciplinary, collaborative and research-focused centre aiming to advance climate mitigation and adaptation in synergy with all the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- The Bolin Centre is a multi-disciplinary consortium of over 400 scientists in Sweden that conduct research and graduate education related to the Earth's climate.
This will be an in-person event only.
The seminar is part of the Swedish Presidency of the European Council.
