Title: Social factors and childhood cancer- what can we learn from large-scale register-based research?
Summary: Social inequalities in childhood cancer survival have been observed across the world, also within high income countries. Moreover, survivors of childhood cancer may face negative socioeconomic consequences in their adult life. Swedish and Nordic national population and health registers provide a unique possibility of investigating these issues limiting methodological problems from for example low participation rates and loss to follow-up. We have utilized these recourses and assessed social differences in childhood cancer survival in Sweden, as well as socioeconomic consequences among childhood cancer survivors in three Nordic countries (the SALiCCS cohort).
