Föreläsningar och seminarier KI Lifestyle4Health network seminar #10: Physical activity and Covid-19

Speaker: Prof. Carl Johan Sundberg
Seminar description
It is well established that regular physical activity is important for health and well-being. Physical activity affects all organ systems, including the immune system. Persons that are physically active have a lower incidence of upper respiratory tract infections. Physical activity also enhances the body’s ability to sustain physical stress (e.g. an infection), which has recently been shown also for Covid-19. Physical activity is important during rehabilitation after an infection and is likely to strengthen the immune response following a vaccination. This session aims to describe the connection between physical activity and resilience to Covid-19 infection as well as the mechanisms behind it.
