Abstract
Bacterial infection within an organ triggers a veritable cascade of responses as the host mounts its defense strategy. This presentation will demonstrate how our use of advanced tissue infection models has revealed new physiological tissue responses to infection spanning the inflammatory, vascular and even the nervous systems. This knowledge is opening up new avenues of research as we seek new ways to identify and treat bacterial infections.
