Collaborative research projects – Kavli Trust
Support collaborative research in selected evidence gaps in mental health problems in children and adolescents. The total budget is NOK 20 million for grants worth between NOK 3m and NOK 10m. Funding from the Kavli Trust cannot be used for overhead and/or other expenses not directly related to the project. The appplicant’s department must provide a considerable in-kind contribution. The application is two-stage, currently announced 1st stage invites preproposals.

Forskningsstipendier – Apotekarsocieteten Elisabeth och Alfred Ahlqvists stiftelse
Stiftelsen har till ändamål att främja farmaceutisk vetenskap och forskning och utlyser stipendier för följande ändamål: (i) Kurser och konferenser; (ii) Post doc farmaceutisk forskning vid välrenommerat universitet i första hand utomlands, summa 600 000 kr/år, med möjlighet till förlängning ett år i Sverige eller utomlands, utlyses minst en gång per år; (iii) Examensarbete om 30 hp på annat universitet utanför Sverige, stipendier utgår endast för resebidrag; (iv) Forskningsvistelse på annat universitet inom eller utanför Sverige under kortare tid om totalt max 4 mån och 40 000 kr/mån.

Stipendier - Sveriges läkarförbunds Forskningsfond
Forskningsfond delar ut stipendier till forskning med en etisk inriktning. Forskningen ska avse medicinsk etik eller etik med anknytning till sjukvården. Anslags- eller stipendiemottagare måste varit medlem i Sveriges läkarförbund i sex månader när ansökningstiden går ut.

Forskningsprojekt - Sven och Dagmar Saléns Stiftelse
Stiftelsen stöder: (i) Projektstarter - många forskningsprojekt eller andra idéer som faller inom stiftelsens ändamål kan dock behöva bidrag för att preciseras tillräckligt, så att anslag senare kan sökas från andra håll eller för att drivas så långt, att projektets form och möjligheter kan demonstreras för andra anslagsgivare; (ii) Tvärvetenskapliga projekt - idéer om projekt på eller kring gränslinjerna mellan olika vetenskapliga discipliner har ofta svårt att få gehör hos de större forskningsstödjande organen. Stiftelsen kan i sådana fall fylla en viktig forskningsfrämjande uppgift även med ett begränsat ekonomiskt stöd. Stiftelsen sällan beviljar anslag överstigande 100 tkr.

Forskningsprojekt - Svenska Spels forskningsråd
Forskningsrådet tar emot ansökningar inom prevention, behandling (social och/eller farmakologisk), samsjuklighet eller liknande ohälsa när det gäller överdrivet spelande eller spelberoende. Forskningsrådet emotser särskilt, men inte uteslutande, projekt som studerar exponering och tillgänglighet i fysiska och virtuella miljöer som kan öka risker såsom skuldsättning, kriminalitet, psykisk ohälsa inklusive suicid. Medlen avser stöd såväl till doktorander, forskare de närmsta fem åren efter disputation (post doktoral period) samt graduerade forskare vid universitet och högskolor som söker projektbidrag. Medel medges för projekt som sträcker sig från ett till fem år. Rådet administreras av Centralförbundet för alkohol- och narkotikaupplysning (CAN).

Stiftelsen Serafimerlasarettet
Stiftelsen Serafimerlasarettet, grundad genom enskild offervillighet och i verksamhet sedan 1752, har till ändamål att understödja sjukvård och utbildning av läkare.
Stiftelsen utdelar medel för medicinsk forskning med tydlig klinisk inriktning och som bedrivs av yngre forskare (högst 45 års ålder eller högst 10 år efter disputation) vid Karolinska Institutet. Totalt utdelas ca 50-100 tkr till 3-4 forskare.

Ataxia Grants – Ataxia UK
Ataxia UK provides funding for innovative and relevant research on the ataxias.
Ataxia UK hold two rounds of preliminary applications for funding (award amount £5-30K) each year. A variety of proposals are considered, including:
- research projects
- PhD studentships
- research fellowships
- travel awards for researchers or students presenting at conferences
- satellite meetings at major Symposia of other organisations dealing with related disorders, as a way of raising awareness and enhancing collaboration with researchers in these disciplines
- small grants for research projects (less than £5000)
- pilot scheme grants (less than £5000)
Grant applications may be submitted for a maximum of three years.

Research Unit -- European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE)
This supports collaborative research in paediatric endocrinology. One large grant will be awarded. The grant of €100,000 is for a period of two years (up to €50,000 per year). Members of ESPE may apply. Each application must include at least one principal investigator and two co-investigators who are ESPE members. Non-ESPE members may participate as additional co-investigators. Applications that consist of investigators from at least three different countries are encouraged.
Deadline: The call for preliminary applications is open from 20 December – 24 March 2024.

Discovery Research Grant -- Action on Hearing Loss (Trading Name of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People ([RNID]), UK
These support projects that will generate knowledge to underpin the discovery of treatments for hearing loss or tinnitus, or improve how new treatments are developed and tested.
We would like to particularly encourage applications this year in the areas of tinnitus, and medical devices to treat hearing loss.
Value: Up to £225,000 in total, funding will not exceed £75,000 in one year.
Duration: Up to 3 years.

Abstract: Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) that were developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D) have significant protective effects for cardiac and renal diseases for people with and without diabetes. However, SGLT2i are not currently approved for individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and there is an increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) for this population. Despite this concern, these drugs are increasingly being prescribed off-label for people with T1D. Continuous ketone monitoring (CKM) is a rapidly evolving technology that could be utilized clinically to prevent DKA by an early warning of elevations in ketone levels. The purpose of this NOFO is to solicit applications for studies that will develop and test risk mitigation strategies that involve the clinical integration of CKM for the safe use of SGLT2i for people living with T1D so that they may benefit from the cardiac and renal protection and glucose-lowering effects of this drug class

Amount: Eighteen-month grant of $100,000 or less to support a specific multi-institutional research project. No salary support will be provided. Indirect costs may not be paid for SPR Research and Education Foundation Grants.
Eligibility: One member of each of the investigator teams must be a member of the Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR). Applicants must be in departments of diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, or nuclear medicine and have completed all advanced training.
Abstract: The SPR Research and Education Foundation Multi-Institutional Pilot Grant is intended to provide a higher level of support for pediatric radiology‐related research projects conducted across multiple institutions. The goal of this award is to fund collaborative projects across multiple institutions to increase the sample size of rare pediatric diseases to allow for more rigorous, reproducible research in the pediatric population. The Grant is provided to facilitate projects that require (1) recruitment of patients from multiple institutions to achieve a necessary study population and/or (2) equipment and physical resources from multiple institutions.
