The ARC Foundation for Cancer Research invites nominations for the Léopold Griffuel awards. These recognise researchers whose work has led to a major breakthrough in basic research or translational and clinical research in oncology. These awards are divided into two distinct categories:

  • Basic Research Award
  • Translational and Clinical Award

Each applicant must still be active in research at the time of the call and must commit themselves to use the award to pursue scientific work. Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) - Free Family Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Award

Amount: $600,000. The award will be approximately $200,000 per year up to three years. The Foundation Fighting Blindness does not provide funds for equipment or indirect administrative costs.

Eligibility: Open to all researchers with a faculty position.

Abstract: The Free Family Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Award funding strives to find solutions for early, dry AMD. Efforts are concentrated on determining the strength of pathophysiologic pathways and their interactions with other pathways to cause AMD lesions of early AMD pathobiology.  This award will include two PIs who are jointly responsible for the scientific and technical direction of the project, thereby leveraging a team science approach. Multidisciplinary projects are highly encouraged. Proposals must:

  • Focus on early, dry AMD
  • Determine the most relevant pathophysiologic pathways and their interactions with other pathways that cause early AMD lesions
  • Include two PIs with distinct areas of scientific expertise who will implement a multidisciplinary project with a team science approach on a topic that is not optimally served by a single laboratory.
  • Use animal or cellular models that best address AMD pathobiology

Autism Science Foundation (ASF) - Pre- and Postdoctoral Training Awards

Upcoming deadlines: Full Application - 8th December 2023

Amount: The Autism Science Foundation will make a number of awards determined by its available financial resources. The term of the award will be a period of one year and will include: For predoctoral students: $35,000 USD. For postdoctoral students: $50,000 USD. No portion of these funds shall be used to cover indirect university costs.

Eligibility: Applicants for Predoctoral Awards must be enrolled students in good standing in a program leading to a research doctorate, such as a Ph.D. or Sc.D., or a dual degree, such as an M.D./Ph.D., in an academic department at an accredited university or health/medical institution.

Applicants for Postdoctoral Awards must have completed their doctoral or medical degree and have been accepted as a postdoctoral fellow in good standing in a program as of the award start date (July - September 2024).

Abstract: The Autism Science Foundation invites applications for its Pre- and Postdoctoral Training Awards from graduate students, medical students and postdoctoral fellows interested in pursuing careers in basic and clinical research relevant to autism spectrum disorders. The proposed training should be scientifically linked to autism, but may be broadened to include training in a closely related area of scientific research. Call for nominations for the Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences

Established in 2001 by the Wiley Foundation, Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences is intended to recognize breakthrough research in pure or applied life science research that is distinguished by its excellence, originality and impact on our understanding of biological systems and processes. 

The Wiley Prize often recognizes discoveries that have not yet received wide recognition. A high percentage of the recipients have gone on to receive the Gairdner, Lasker, and Nobel Prizes. The Wiley Prize is not a life-time achievement award.

ISSCR Award - Call for nominations

The International Society for Stem Cell Research awards showcase independent investigators conducting original research in basic science or clinical development and translation in the field of stem cell research. Below please find our portfolio of awards and nomination process.

ISSCR Achievement Award recognizes the transformative body of work of an investigator that has had a major impact on the field of stem cell research or regenerative medicine.

ISSCR Momentum Award recognizes the exceptional achievements of a mid-career investigator, 10-20 years out from the start of their first full-time independent position in an academic, industrial or clinical research setting, whose innovative research has established a major area of stem cell-related research with a strong trajectory for future success.

ISSCR Outstanding Young Investigator Award recognizes the exceptional achievements of an investigator in the early part of their independent career in stem cell research, 7 or fewer years out from their first full-time assistant professorship or equivalent position in an academic, industrial or clinical research setting at the time of the nomination deadline.

Each award recipient will be recognized at the Annual Meeting with a personal award, complimentary meeting registration, and a featured presentation during a plenary session.
