Behöriga att söka är legitimerad sjuksköterska som är medlem i IFIS och har varit det i minst två år före ansökan och arbetar inom infektionssjukvård.

Stipendium - Carl Tryggers Stiftelse för Vetenskaplig Forskning
Stiftelsen inbjuder ansökningar om stipendier för inkommande postdoktorer inom naturvetenskap. Stöd ges även till gästforskares forskningsvistelser vid institutioner i Sverige. Stipendiet är normalt tvåårigt och ligger på 336 000 kronor per år.

Industridoktorander - Stiftelsen för Strategisk Forskning (SSF)
Utlysningens mål är att stärka samarbetet mellan akademi och näringsliv. Bidraget ska resultera i en doktorsexamen. Syftet med programmet är att bidra till excellent forskning inom de områden SSF finansierar: naturvetenskap, teknik och medicin. Gemensamma doktorander mellan industri och lärosäte ökar samarbetet mellan sektorerna, driver fram innovationer, samtidigt som doktorer med hög attraktionskraft för svensk industri examineras. Satsningen gäller personer som ännu inte är antagna till forskarutbildning. Doktoranden ska under bidragsperioden bedriva forskning och vara till minst 80 procent anställd vid ett företag, samt ha två handledare, en vid lärosätet och en vid företaget. Lärosätet måste vara svenskt. Huvudsökande är handledare för doktoranden vid lärosätet. Medsökande är handledare på företaget. I definitionen av företag ingår också sjukhus för att täcka in medicinsk/klinisk forskning.

Project grant for research into antimicrobial resistance – from biological mechanisms to societal aspects– Swedish Research Council
Aims to support research into antimicrobial resistance from one or several perspectives as biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, medical technology, medical and pharmaceutical sciences, clinical medicine, health science, medical biotechnology, veterinary medicine, animal science, psychology, economics, sociology, political science, and environmental science. It can also include interdisciplinary perspectives, such as One Health.

Proof of Concept within the infection area - Swedish Research Council
Focus of the grant is the infection area (antimicrobial resistance, viruses and pandemics). The purpose is to bridge the gap between basic research and utilisation or commercialisation of research results within the infection field. Grant offers persons who are receiving or have received a grant from the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet), The Swedish Research Council for health, working life and welfare (Forte) or the Swedish Research Council for sustainable development (Formas) the opportunity to further develop their research results. This shall be done by verifying the useability and suitability of a new method, product or process developed from an earlier research project, and to carry out activities preparatory to innovation or commercialisation.

Forskningsanslag - Ollie och Elof Ericssons Stiftelse för Vetenskaplig Forskning
Stiftelsen stöder forskning inom ämnesområdena medicin, teknik och ekonomi. Stiftelsen vänder sig främst till unga, disputerade självständiga forskare som påbörjat uppbyggnaden av egen forskningsverksamhet. Beloppen hos den vetenskapliga stiftelsen ligger normalt på mellan 50 000-200 000 kr.

Postdoktoral bidrag - Hjärnfonden
Bidrag till anställning tilldelas för studier inom eller utom landet. Vid prioritering av ansökningarna kommer projektets vetenskapliga värde att vara avgörande. Det bedöms även meriterande om den sökande kan påvisa att den planerade postdoktorala verksamheten påtagligt utvidgar och förnyar den sökandes tidigare forskningserfarenhet. Doktorsexamen ska inte vara äldre än fem år men undantag medges för till exempel AT-tjänstgöring eller föräldraledighet.

Forskarstipendium - Svensk Förening för Övre Abdominell Kirurgi (SFÖAK)
SFÖAK annonserar forskarstipendier om 30 000 kr för att stöda kliniskt inriktad forskning inom övre abdominell kirurgi. Sökande måste vara medlem i SFÖAK för att kunna tilldelas stipendiet. För att godkännas av styrelsen krävs att man är legitimerad läkare med kirurgisk basspecialitet.

The Swedish Child Diabetes Foundation’s Johnny Ludvigsson-prize for excellent research
in childhood and adolescent diabetes
The prize winner should be a Nordic citizen (of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden) and have conducted research in diabetes;
- clinically in children and adolescents and/or
- epidemiologically on childhood and adole-scent diabetes and/or
- experimentally regarding type 1 diabetes.
The use of biological samples from children and adolescents and a clinical association will be of great importance in the decision.
The prize winner should be nominated by at least three Nordic researchers in diabetes. The motivation should include a description of the scientific achievement (maximum 1000 words in English) and the most important (maximum 20) scientific publications. The nomination must be available to the Prize committee by the 15th of May the year of the prize at the latest.
The prize winner will be selected no later than the 15th of June the year of the prize, by a Prize committee consisting of The Swedish Child Diabetes Foundation’s Scientific council, supplemented by the prize winners from the previous three years.
The award consists of a sum of 250.000 SEK and a diploma.
The prize winner will be announced on Johnny Ludvigsson’s birthday on the 16th of October, with the award to be presented at a subsequent ceremonial meeting or a major medical conference in a Nordic country. The prize will be presented primarily by the protector of The Swedish Child Diabetes Foundation, Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess Victoria, or by Johnny Ludvigsson, or by the chairman of The Swedish Child Diabetes Foundation. The prize winner will give a 40-minute presentation on her or his research.
The winner will then be required to attend the Prize committee voluntarily and without extra payment for the following three years.

Viking Olov Björk scholarship
Viking Olov Björk scholarship in applied biomaterial research of 275 000 Swedish Crowns.
Viking Olov Björk scholarship supports research in the intersection between medical technology and its clinical applications. This covers research and development within such areas as tissue engineering, nanotechnology or biomaterial research.
The scholarship is to be given to a young researcher at a Nordic university who has shown scientific skills in the field and shown aptitude for leadership within the scientific field supported by the scholarship.
The scholarship proceeds is to finance the recipient’s costs for a longer visit to a highly ranked international research institute. The visit shall commence within a year after funding.
Researcher with employment at or with similar strong collaborative link with Uppsala University shall be preferred. Such link requires a well witnessed, and the year before application established collaboration in a research project that has Uppsala University as principal organization.
Application shall be written in English and includes CV, research plan for the project expected to be carried through at the foreign institute, certificate from the foreign site confirming access to and availability of resources, statement from tutor/similar at the own Nordic university, and finally budget for the stay abroad.
A brief written travelogue shall be sent to the Office for Medicine and Pharmacy within six months after return from the stay abroad.

Research Grants - European Leukodystrophy Association
These grants support research that addresses knowledge gaps in the field of leukodystrophies. Preference is given to clinical trials and clinical trial readiness projects. Themes proposed in the 2023 call for proposals will focus on unmet needs in the field of leukodystrophies.
Research Topics of Interest include:
- Clinical trial / clinical trial readiness for leukodystrophies including the development of longitudinal outcome measures, biomarker characterization, imaging modalities and pharmacodynamics /pharmacokinetic studies.
- Preclinical studies specifically testing therapies (gene, cell, enzyme or pharmacologic therapies) for leukodystrophies.
- Developing animal or cell-based models (e.g. patient derived iPSC) relevant to human leukodystrophies.
- Study of mechanisms responsible for leukodystrophies, in order to identify new therapeutic approaches.
NB: ELA International neither covers overhead/indirect costs, nor salaries for principal investigators, co-investigators and scientists with permanent or tenure-track positions. Maximum grant amount 200,000 Euro.

Successful applicants will define practical challenges and barriers to the conduct of RMD research and propose the development of a solution that can be tested within the pilot project and/or with subsequent extramural funding. This EULAR Research Funding focusses on development and (future) implementation of methods, not on hypothesis-testing.
Preference and highest priority will be given to projects that demonstrate a clear path to sustaining extramural funding or to direct implementation of improvements in RMD research.

Great grant for thrombosis researchers - The European Society of Cardiology
The European Society of Cardiology's Working Group on Thrombosis invites applications for its great grant for thrombosis researchers. This enables young scientists to gain training in basic research techniques in the field of atherothrombosis at well-known high quality research laboratories.
Applicants must be under 35 years of age and must have a written invitation from a basic research laboratory in a specific basic research technique. Applicants must not be supported by any other grant or sponsorship. Two grants are available, worth up to €2,000 per month for a maximum of €12,000 each.

Adaptation of Diabetes Control Technologies for Older Adults with T1D (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)

Abstract: The main objective of this NOFO is to foster development and testing of technologies adaptable to aging-related changes in older adults (aged 65 years or older) with T1D to improve diabetes management and quality of life. Older adults may have increased vulnerability to hypoglycemia, cognitive impairment and/or multiple co-morbidities which may affect the risks and benefits of these technologies in this population. Projects will be funded to a) develop and test new technologies and b) to adapt and test existing technologies. It is expected that aging-adaptive diabetes technologies that address barriers for use among older adults with T1D will improve usability, adoption and adherence decreasing the risk of hypoglycemia (and hypoglycemia unawareness) while enhancing glycemic control, facilitating better diabetes management, and improving quality of life for these individuals and their caregivers.

Abstract: T The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to accelerate the development of Digital Therapeutics (DTx) to treat Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). Advances in technology offer unprecedented opportunities to develop clinical-grade mobile, web, or other software-based platforms designed to deliver treatments that are safe and effective for SUD. FDA authorization of DTx can play an important role in increasing the availability of treatments to patients with SUD. The primary objective of this NOFO is to move DTx to their next step in the development process, with the ultimate goal of generating new, FDA authorized, disseminated treatments for SUDs. Abstract: NIMH seeks applications for pilot research to adapt, optimize, and test empirically supported behavioral interventions that address common sleep problems in adolescents and young adults with or at risk for a mental health disorder. Pilot trials should be designed to evaluate the feasibility, tolerability, acceptability, safety, and potential effectiveness of the approach in real world settings, and to conduct a preliminary test of the intervention’s impact on target mechanisms and sleep and mental health outcomes, and to obtain preliminary data needed as a prerequisite a larger-scale effectiveness trial. An emphasis is placed on studies that address the needs of youth from understudied and underserved populations.

Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), US – Research Fellow Award Program

Amount: $150,000. Investigators may request up to $75,000 total costs, including up to 10% indirect costs, per year for a two (2) year period (total award is $150,000).
Eligibility: The following conditions must be met by all applicants:
Post-doctorate and medical fellows applying for the award must work under the supervision of a research mentor in the multiple myeloma field. The MMRF Fellowship program is targeted to early career scientists. Applicants must have obtained their highest degree within 10 years of the application date. Applicants may not hold a position higher than Assistant Professor. Applicants who are beginning studies in the multiple myeloma field must have a research sponsor/mentor at their institution who is active in the multiple myeloma field, and who can provide guidance to the applicant in the proposed area of research.
Abstract: The MMRF seeks proposals for the MMRF Research Fellowship Program, an initiative supporting early career researchers at the post-doctorate, medical fellow, or junior faculty levels currently active or interested in research in multiple myeloma. The goal of this initiative is to engage and support early career investigators interested in basic and clinical research focused on multiple myeloma and its precursor conditions, with the goal of advancing our understanding of myeloma disease biology, disease risk, and treatment response and relapse.
Autism Speaks (AS), US – Autistic Scientist Predoctoral Fellowship

Amount: $80,000 over 2 years. Indirect costs are not covered by this grant.
Eligibility: The Predoctoral Fellowship Awards for autistic researchers will be granted to qualified predoctoral students. The candidate must have two or more years remaining before completing their program. The selected predoctoral fellow must spend at least 80% of their professional time engaged exclusively in their Autism Speaks autism research-related activities for the duration of the award and cannot simultaneously hold another fellowship award during the support period. Prior to application, predoctoral candidates must have an identified mentor for their fellowship.
Abstract: The primary purpose of the predoctoral fellowship is to provide funding to support exceptional research training opportunities for highly qualified candidates. Fellows will work directly with mentors who are leading autism researchers across a wide variety of fields broadly related to autism research.
Conquer Cancer Foundation and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), US – Career Development Award (CDA)
Upcoming deadlines: Full application – 17th June, 2024
Amount: $200,000. The CDA is a three-year grant totaling $200,000 that supports personnel and/or research expenses, and travel to attend the Conquer Cancer Grants and Awards Ceremony at the ASCO Annual Meeting.
Eligibility: Be a physician (MD, DO or international equivalent) working in any country. Be in the first to fourth year of a full-time primary faculty appointment in a clinical department at an academic medical institution at the time of grant submission. Have a valid, active medical license in the country where the research will be conducted at the time of application. Be an ASCO member or have submitted a membership application with the grant application. Be able to commit at least 50% of full-time effort in research (applies to total research, not just the proposed project) during the award period. Have a mentor from the sponsoring institution who must provide a letter of support. Applicants may not concurrently hold other career development awards from private foundations during the CDA-supported project term.
Abstract: The Career Development Award (CDA) provides research funding to clinical investigators, who have received their initial faculty appointment, as they work to establish an independent clinical cancer research program. This is a mentored award and the research project is conducted under the guidance of a scientific mentor. The research must have a patient-oriented focus, including a clinical research study and/or translational research involving human subjects. Proposals with a predominant focus on in vitro or animal studies (even if clinically relevant) are not allowed.
